Android sales outstrip iphone in America

According to the report of Nielsen Company, Google Android defeated iPhone in the last season for the first time and Android sales overtook iphone on record. In the second quarter, Google phones accounted for 27 percent of U.S. smart phone sales, while iPhone OS only 23 percent. BlackBerry is still a king of the smart phone market, and accounted for 33 percent.
Motorola and HTC have adopted Android OS and promoted many smart phones, which provides many choices for users. Will Stofega, IDC Research Program author, deems the success of Android in America may bring the global success, "it would come soon," Stofega said.
Blackberry OS of RIM still accounted for 35%, however, less than 45% which represented last year’s market share. Windows phone of Microsoft is also a loser whose market share decreased from 20% to 11%.
Entner said Android is swallowing blackberry and windows in a quick step. In order to cope with the bad condition, Microsoft plans to show their new OS—windows phone 7. And also a new type of RIM cell phone will launch.
Nielsen stated in the blog "iphone was always the great headline of smart phone market in last few years, however, Android OS of google showed obvious expansion in market share among current clients."
Despite on-going good news of Android, the popularity of Android is lower than iphone. According to Nielsen, iphone has a higher brand loyalty that 90% of iphone users would choose apple’s product again while only 71% of Android. RIM might have the worst situation whose percentage point is only 58. At the same time a report of Canalys also shows the growth rate of Android smart phones reaches 886% compared with the second quarter of last year.
In the second quarter of 2010, Nokia possessed 38% of global smart phone market share with sales of 23800000, nearly 41% more than last year in the environment of 64% growth rate of global smart phone. RIM ranked first in North America and Latin America with a growth rate of 41% and a global market share of 18%. Iphone 4 led a sale growth rate of 61% and a global market share of 13% even in the condition of antenna problem.
HTC has already reached a 14.4%’s market share in smart phone market of the USA, after 32.1% of RIM and 21.7% of Apple. HTC performed great miracle of sales and recorded the best results in the USA market.
